SI1 (Slightly Included 1) diamonds contain moderate internal characteristics that are visible under 10× magnification. SI1 ranks seventh on the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) clarity scale, following FL (Flawless), IF (Internally Flawless), VVS1, VVS2 (Very Very Slightly Included), and VS1 and VS2 (Very Slightly Included).
Inclusions in SI1 diamonds are most often located near the girdle, within the pavilion, or along the sides of the stone. They are less noticeable than those in SI2 and can often be effectively masked by a well-executed cut.
